August 2010 – SEP Award Press Release

Cascade Community Wind Company (CCWC), a Washington State limited liability company, has been awarded a $1,000,000 grant and loan from the Washington State Energy Program.  This award will be used to help CCWC install up to eight community wind turbines before December 2011. Cascade Community Wind Company LLC (CCWC), based in Bellingham, announces that it has received a grant of $47,975 from the USDA Rural Energy for America Program (REAP), for the construction of a 100 kW community wind turbine. The turbine is a Vestas V19, 100kW turbine which has a 60-foot diameter rotor, is on an 80-foot monopole tower and will produce enough power for about 45 energy efficient homes (around 200,000 kWh a year).  The turbine is expected to cost $250,000 to install.   (Click on above link for entire text).

February 2010 – CCWC PPA PRESS RELEASE

Cascade Community Wind Company LLC (CCWC), based in Bellingham, announces that it has received power purchase agreements from Puget Sound Energy (PSE) for its first eight communitysupported wind turbines. These eight projects, planned to go up in the next two years, should produce about $9.5 million worth of electricity over the next 10 years, or enough to power 2,000 energy efficient homes. Fully half this amount will be going to subscribers to the projects. (Click on above link for entire text).
